It takes a special kind of person, with a certain gumption and willingness to take heat at great personal expense to orchestrate a nationwide, peaceful rally for change..These people quickly become known as martyrs, leaders, freedom fighters and dissidents. They are polarizing and infectiously popular at the same time. And at present, thanks to social media click bait and legacy media failings, their truths are all too often distorted..Tamara Lich, co-organizer of the Freedom Convoy – the blue collar protest led by Canadian truckers that grabbed global attention and shook a divided nation on the impacts of COVID-19 restrictions and personal freedoms – was once again released on bail this week..To be clear, we aren’t talking about a drug kingpin or a violent offender. It took a month to get a 49-year-old grandmother from Medicine Hat out of the clink for taking a selfie at an organized event with someone she wasn’t supposed to be associating with..Superior Court Justice Andrew Goodman overturned the justice of the peace decision that Lich had violated her bail conditions on the grounds that the breach was not “rationally connected” to the intention of the order – to prevent conspiring another Freedom Convoy protest..With nationwide ‘Free Tamara’ protests and grassroots advocacy raising tens of thousands for her legal battle, the rumblings from those who turned their nose up at the Freedom Convoy have become a dull roar..The truth is becoming all too clear as the legacy media lies and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s lack of accountability race to the bottom..The truth is, this isn’t a case of justice served. This is Lich being made an example of for embarrassing the political class..Lich now joins a growing list of women who have been martyred for standing up to Trudeau. For a self-proclaimed “feminist” he leaves a lot of explaining to do when we reflect on his appalling treatment of the likes of Jody Wilson-Raybould and Jane Philpott, or the disturbing photos and allegations of inappropriate groping and contact with young women in years past..As the lies erode, the truth begins to rise: the Freedom Convoy was not an alt-right group of radicals who destroyed a city. It was a nationwide, grassroots rally by every day Canadians that was largely peaceful, with minimal incident and shone a damning light on the Liberal elites for their false arrests, police violence, freezing of bank accounts and invasion of personal rights and freedoms..It has fueled the freedom movement of CPC candidate Pierre Poilievre, who has drawn record-breaking crowds at his rallies after years of Conservatives failing to excite. It has Trudeau and his ilk running scared and cueing distractions with bad haircuts and even worse anti-energy and anti-agriculture policies..As public outrage continues to mount, with calls for all charges on Lich to be dropped, it begs the question: how will this government ever account for the injustices served to Lich and how can we call this country free when our right to peaceful protest can be so easily stripped away?.We are Alberta Proud of Tamara Lich for standing up for her beliefs and standing up to Trudeau and we are hopeful for a positive end to her story..Lindsay Wilson.President, Alberta Proud
