Detroit? Philadelphia? Chicago?.No ladies and gents, I’m talking about good ol’ Wild Rose country..He would eventually get what’s coming to him — he would be cruelly gunned down..As Clint said in Unforgiven, we all have it coming. But this fellow had it coming, more than most..I still, to this day, don’t know who did the job..As a 40-year journo, you end up meeting all types of people. Even those who have a leg in our world and a leg in a different world..You hear stories. You hope they’re not true. You fear they are..Let me be blunt — there is a dark side to humanity, a very dark side. You see it every day on the evening news..Most of it is gang-related, and sometimes people snap. One thing’s for sure, the feds can’t stop illegal weapons from entering the country..That would be like trying to stop grow-ops in British Columbia. It ain’t gonna happen..BC weed will continue to flow, as usual. And nobody who taught drama and wears funny socks in Ottawa, parading as a surfer and world leader, can do a damn thing about it..But I don’t want to waste my time, talking about that jerk..I’m talking about evil. Real, down-to-earth, in your face evil that exists in our own province. Evil that you don’t have to deal with, as part of your job..Years ago, one of my good friends was robbed by a bunch of idiots..They lived in the same neighborhood, so the cops were able to identify them and arrest them almost immediately..It was the Dumb and Dumber gang. Case closed..But there was one thing, I won’t ever forget. .As the cops searched the victims’ house, a little girl was crying. They even stole her $20 that she had saved up for a new pair of running shoes..Nobody said a word. But a few minutes later, one cop said, “Hey, I found it. I found your twenty. It was under your bed.”.He handed it to the little girl, who still had tears in her eyes..Of course, he didn’t find it. He pulled it out of his wallet, and threw it on the floor..Thinking about it now, it still chokes me up..These are the men, who serve and protect, and we should never, ever forget that..OK, so here we are, Cowtown, circa 2022 — I never thought I’d live this long, but the Lord obviously wants to torture me a bit more..It appears the city fathers, and, even some top cops, are freaking out, about a patch. A goddam, vilified patch, for crissakes..A black and blue Canadian flag patch, which signifies the tight bond between police officers in the field, and, the losses they have incurred..In some circles, some morons have adopted it, as “a symbol of hate,” and the hierarchy at CPS wants to gain “voluntary compliance” for removing it..A social media-fuelled, leftwing political ideology, choking us from afar, ladies and gents..Well, I frankly don’t give a damn, if anybody else on the planet has adopted this patch, for any reason. I just don’t give a damn. And why the hell should I?.I know what our cops stand for, I know what they do. Why in God’s name would I, or anyone else with half a brain, have any doubts about that?.Getting back to my psychotic killer, at the beginning of this piece ….Folks, the only thing — the only thing, that was ever standing between you, and that cold hearted killer, was a group of men and women called the CPS, who … are willing to risk their lives, on a daily basis, to save you from harm..Something the woke city fathers of this city, have never done, and, will never do..They’re too busy spending money on massive projects we don’t bloody need and collecting their fat City of Calgary paycheques. There isn’t a good one, in the entire bunch, and they’re being led by a completely inept mayor..The message from above is clear: Do what I say, and don’t ask why..According to media reports, and to its credit, the Calgary Police Association said its members would not comply. .In fact, the union has been accused of handing out “countless” patches..All I can say is, “Bravo!” .Keep wearing the damn patch, and keep fighting. Take it to the goddam Supreme Court if you have to. But don’t give up. Never, ever give up..We only have to look over at Ukraine, to see what a bully is doing. Enough already! Stop the madness..Let me say this again — this is a patch. This is not the hill to die on!.And now is not the time, to turn our backs on the boys in blue.
