It was clear this kangaroo court was going to be a political trial..The Republican Party in Congress is still dominated at the upper echelons by establishment politicians who smiled politely during the Trump years, but never really embraced the electorate he brought into the party: the frustrated working-class voters who had long felt betrayed by the Democratic Party. After less than two years of President Joe Biden, the Democrats have lost a large swath of black voters and even greater portion of Hispanics. These supporters will be crucial to Republicans taking back the House of Representatives and Senate in the November midterm elections..They will also be crucial for MP and Conservative leadership candidate and presumptive victor Pierre Poilievre (CPC-Carleton) when he faces off against Prime Minister Justin Trudeau or whoever the Liberal Party puts up against him..You knew there had to be a Canadian connection here..Like the Democrats, the Liberals are vicious in an election fight and are very good at never talking about the real issues. Poilievre will need to attract voters who haven’t voted in a while because they have lost faith in politics and the parties, fearing they were all the same — and they were. He must resist the temptation to attract left-wing voters by watering down his conservative and populist policies. It never works..The Republicans in the United States must also remember this..But with so many RINOs running loose in Congress, you sometimes wonder if the GOP can pull it off despite the awesome incompetence of the Democratic administration. And just where have the senior Republican leadership been over the last two weeks following the FBI breaking into Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Florida home?.With the exception of Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) there has been little outrage from senior Republicans, some of whom seem almost glad that the bombastic Trump is facing continued harassment from a politicized Department of Justice..Of course there should be massive outrage from Democrats as well because what continues to happen to Trump wouldn’t have happened except in early American history. The FBI has become so attuned to the wishes of the Democratic Party it might as well be one of its political operatives. Trump has been under investigation since he decided to run for president. To date, there hasn’t been a shred of illegal activity or misconduct unearthed by special counsels or impeachment committees and this latest expedition to try to link the former president to espionage is just plain bizarre..But don’t think that will stop the Democrats from attempting to destroy Trump or from changing the channel from their own devastatingly bad performance that has produced an open southern border, soaring urban crime, the worst inflation in the Western world and mounting foreign policy disasters..And you can expect the Liberals in Canada to smear Poilievre and the Conservatives as white supremacists and extremists with a "hidden agenda."
