The Liberals appear to be preparing another assault on free speech as they look to censor "misinformation.".That "misinformation" comes from a story first reported by my colleague Rupa Subramanya, where she demonstrated that federal health officials didn't have a clue when they were told to find the "science" to prove that vaccine mandates would make travel safer and that the physician in charge of approving the COVID-19 vaccine was not even consulted in the matter..It just demonstrates that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau wanted the vaccine travel mandates for political purposes, not for scientific or health reasons and that this is pretty much how he has run the show during the entire pandemic..Trudeau himself was all over the map on the issue before he decided that it was scientific to be in favor of vaccine mandates. Prior to that, he had indicated that such policies were "extreme measures that could have real divisive impacts on community and country" and not the sort of thing that is good for Canada..But apparently he changed his mind about that, just as the the Liberal-NDP alliance appears ready to censor free speech if it attacks their policies..Ontario Liberal Caucus Chairman Mark Gerretsen (Liberal-Kingston and the Islands) tweeted, "We cannot wait until the next election to suddenly decide this type of blatant lying is unacceptable. It's populist rhetoric meant to exploit fears and instil [sic] distrust in the very institutions that protect our democracy. It's dangerous and must be confronted now." .Yeah, thanks Gerretsen, You're the dangerous one. How are you going to confront your political enemies? By shutting them up? Putting them in jail. Censoring the internet like your Liberal colleagues have also suggested?.As Rupa Subramanya notes in her Twitter post, this is the "sort of scary rhetoric that you hear in tinpot dictatorships" where some tyrant is trying to put the last independent journalist out of business. .There's lots of this on the internet. NDP MP Charlie Angus is also calling for the head of the National Post for running a column on the travel vax fiasco. .What few people have noticed over the past week is that the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) just declared the COVID pandemic to be over while Canada continues to wallow in the disease and warns of continued vigilance. Is Canada going into health isolationism? What nonsense is this? How much does this Trudeau government rely on COVID to exercise power?.Apparently a lot!
