So, we had a veteran of the Waffen SS in Parliament, to hear Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Scandalous..You want to know what’s really scandalous? Here are four things..First, with the latest $650 million top-up, the Liberal government claims the Canadian contribution to Ukraine’s war effort now stands at $9.5 billion..However, when a certain disabled Canadian veteran asked Prime Minister Trudeau at an Edmonton town hall meeting five years ago why his government was still fighting veterans’ groups in court, Trudeau responded, “Because they’re asking for more than we are able to give right now.”.The Trudeau Liberals can always find the money — our money, don’t forget — to fund what they think makes them look good. Many people think taking care of Canadian veterans would make them look good. Evidently, the Trudeau Liberals see that file as a place to save money. They did however come up with $10.5 million to 'do right' by Omar Khadr..The second scandal is like unto it. Even as they’re handing out taxpayer money for the Ukrainian war effort, they have told the Canadian Armed Forces to find cuts to operation spending over the next year so that ‘taxpayer dollars are used efficiently.’.Operational spending is not overhead spending. It’s when Canada’s armed forces do things. So, the instruction is to spend less money for training and expeditionary work….It’s no wonder that it's hard to find people to join up. The Trudeau government makes it very obvious they don’t give a damn about the Canadian Armed Forces..Scandal number three. Obviously, if you celebrate somebody in the House of Commons who you don’t mean to, somebody made a serious mistake. But it is a further scandal to pass down the line blame that should attach in this case to the prime minister..Right now, Speaker Anthony Rota has been blamed because it was he who introduced Yaroslav Hanka, the Waffen SS veteran we’re talking about, to the House..However as Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre tweeted, it was the prime minister’s mistake because it was his personal protocol office that is responsible for “arranging and vetting all guests and programming for state visits of this kind..No parliamentarians (other than Justin Trudeau) had the opportunity to vet this individual’s past before he was introduced and honoured on the floor of the House of Commons.”.Meanwhile, many people are calling for Rota’s resignation. They are entitled to do so. However, let’s recognize why Rota should go. It is not because it was his fault. It was because he is responsible for what happens on his watch, even when it’s not his fault..Notably, the prime minister cut Question Period rather than face Poilievre. How surprising is that? (His office says that he is also cancelled QP for tomorrow, Tuesday 26th September.) If Poilievre’s assessment is correct, Rota’s not the only one who should resign..Is he?.After all, maybe there’s a fourth scandal here..To the catalogue of appalling blunders he has made in Canada’s relationship with India during his eight years in power, the prime minister has this month added several more proof points. Was he thinking he could deflect further criticism by standing in the reflected glory of present day Ukrainian ‘war hero’ Volodomyr Zelensky?.Certainly, it must have seemed like a PR gift. How very typical of our feckless prime minister that when things are tough, he deflects..But instead of basking in reflected glory, he ends up standing in the shadow of a man who fought the Russians 80 years ago, but under the wrong flag. Looking like a fool, he is now reduced to warning us not to trust Russian disinformation. More deflection. .Surely he must know by now it's the information we get from his own government that nobody trusts any more?.None of it worked..And Nemesis laughs.
