Independent journalist Caryma Sa’d alleged counterprotestor Emily Spanton spit on her camera operator while she was reporting on a protest against an all-ages drag event at the Vegan Hippie Chick in Welland, ON. .“Is there a reason that you’re spitting on me?” said Sa'd in a Sunday video. .Spanton can be seen holding her hand to Sa’d’s camera operator. .Sa'd works as a lawyer, but she engages in independent journalism on her social media accounts. She has known to document protests about COVID-19 restrictions, but has recently shifted to covering what she calls "right-wing extremism.".Spanton said Sa’d should not talk to her. Sa’d asked if there was a reason she was spitting on her. .“Everyone here knows who you are,” said Spanton..“You’re here to cause problems.” .The camera operator then accuses Spanton of spitting on him.
