New York City Neighbourhood Charter Schools assistant principal Todd Soper says he would not hire conservatives if they applied for jobs at his school. .“We have very specific questions and ultimately our diversity-inclusion-equity question, if people don’t answer that question right, they’re just an automatic not hire,” said Soper in a Tuesday video. .Soper said if applicants speak about treating all people as equals, they are “missing the depth of understanding.” He said these applicants would not be hired. .The assistant principal spoke about how one of his teachers refused to speak about Juneteenth, a day the slaves were freed in the States, a few years ago. He said teachers who do not speak about race and injustices in the world are unable to “fully fulfil your responsibilities.” .This teacher did not want to talk about Black Lives Matter. Soper said this teacher felt as if race was not a huge deal. .She said she loved kids, so it was fine. He said teachers have to love all of kids, which includes speaking about race. .Soper said this teacher left, but she would have been fired because of her mindset. .He went on to say his school gave kindergarten and Grade 1 students a mirror during Pride Month and did a read aloud about a boy who wants to be a mermaid.
