A British cardiologist, one of the first to take the COVID-19 vaccine, is now calling for them to be paused, citing safety concerns and a lack of benefit for younger people..Dr. Aseem Malhotra, who once attempted to persuade the vaccine hesitant, now says the vaccines are "not completely safe" and have "unprecedented harms..Malhotra said he came to this conclusion after several months of examining data, speaking to scientists at Oxford, Stanford and Harvard, speaking to two investigate medical journalists, and being contacted by two Pfizer whistleblowers.."Which leads me to believe that it should be suspended until all the raw data has been released for independent analysis," he said..Malhotra recently published a paper titled, Curing the pandemic of misinformation on COVID-19 mRNA vaccines through real evidence-based medicine..In it, Malhotra claims re-analysis of randomized controlled trials using the mRNA technology suggests there is a greater risk of serious adverse events from the COVID-19 vaccines than being hospitalized from COVID-19. He adds that pharmacovigilance systems and real-world safety data, coupled with mechanisms of harm, are "deeply concerning.".He said there are serious concerns with cardiovascular safety, citing a significant increase in heart attack calls to ambulances in England that was seen in 2021, with similar data emerging from Israel in the 16–39-year-old age group.."It cannot be said the consent to receive these agents was fully informed, as is required ethically and legally. A pause and reappraisal of global vaccination policies for COVID-19 is long overdue," Malhotra says..Malhotra used to be an enthusiastic supporter of COVID-19 vaccination. Back in February 2021, Malhotra told Good Morning Britain hosts, "... we need to understand where this vaccine hesitancy is coming from."."There is clearly irrational reasoning for why people don't want to take the vaccine, which is rooted in very blatant false information that is circulating on social media," he said..But Malhotra said he began questioning the safety of COVID-19 vaccines after his father, Dr. Kailash Chand, suffered a cardiac arrest at home and died six months after his Pfizer dose. The autopsy results showed two of Chand’s major arteries were blocked, even though Malhotra described his father healthy person without any heart problems..In an interview with GB News that aired Tuesday, Malhotra said the world is dealing with "perhaps the greatest miscarriage of medical science we will ever witness in our lifetime.".Malhotra said while he tried to discourage vaccine hesitancy initially, he was conflating the COVID-19 vaccines emergency use authorization with traditional vaccines, "which I have to say, have been one of modern medicine's greatest achievements.".The cardiologist said COVID-19 vaccine efficacy is "extremely poor" compared to other vaccines, as it does not prevent infection or transmission. He also brought up data suggesting the vaccines have an "immuno-suppressant effect.".Malhotra said reanalysis of the data that led to the approval of the COVID-19 vaccines, recently published in the peer-reviewed vaccine journal, suggested a greater risk of a serious adverse event than being hospitalized from COVID-19 itself..Malhotra warned people shouldn't be quick to believe media reports COVID-19 is causing a recent uptick in heart problems, suggesting it could be a "deliberate PR machinery from Big Pharma.."This isn't a conspiracy theory," he said. Maholtra explained big tobacco companies once sponsored scientists to suggest that stress — not cigarettes — were causing a rise in heart disease and cancer.."Even if the [COVID-19 vaccine] had an effect early on with the most serious ancestral strain of the virus ... what's circulating now is no worse than the flu," he said.."We need to ask why, when we have a serious adverse rate which is probably in the range of one in 800 to one in 1000, according to good quality data, why is this not being pulled?"
