Nationwide Building Society celebrated Pride Month by having a worker who performs as drag queen raise the flag at its head office. .“We're committed to building an inclusive society for all,” said Nationwide in a tweet. .The video starts off with Nationwide senior consultant Wayne — who performs as drag queen May Kit Reign — saying his friend Gordon works for the company. .“He watched one of my videos, one of my lives doing makeup and stuff, and over time, we’ve built up a friendship, so we’ve know each other for two to three years now,” said Wayne. .“He recommended the job to me, so drag actually brought me more friends, but also brought me to Nationwide.” .The video goes to Kit Reign walking with a Pride flag draped over her back. It flashes to her standing outside Nationwide Headquarters, waving the flag around. .Wayne called Pride Month “an opportunity to celebrate who I am.” He said there is no negativity to being part of the sexual minority community. .The video shows Kit Reign hooking the Pride flag to a pole. She winds it up the flag pole, where it flaps in the wind. .Wayne said he started drag during lockdowns, not knowing what else to do with himself. Since he's a trained performer, he decided to do drag. .The senior consultant described himself as funny and confident. When he is on the phone with clients, he said he tries “to bring a bit of life to it.” .Kit Reign is shown strutting down a path while swaying her arms.
