A man was indicted Friday morning in connection to the murder of rapper Tupac Shakur, who was shot on the Vegas strip 27 years ago. .Tupac was 25 years old when he was gunned down on September 13, 1996. .Duane Keith Davis, Compton Crip gang leader who goes by “Keefe D,” was taken into custody by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department charges related to Tupac's murder. He was arrested while out for a walk in his Nevada neighbourhood for “unknown charges,” as per the Associated Press. .Hours later, he was formally charged with one count of murder with a deadly weapon and was denied bail by Clark County District Judge Jerry Wiese. .“It has often been said that justice delayed is justice denied,” District Attorney Steve Wolfson told the Associated Press following the hearing. “In this case, justice has been delayed, but justice won’t be denied.”.Davis is allegedly one of the last living witnesses of the fatal shooting. .State prosecutors said Friday that a grand jury has been seated on the case for “months” because the indictment against Davis is so serious. .Davis was the “on-ground, on-site commander” and he “ordered the death” of Tupac, said Chief Deputy District Attorney Marc DiGiacomo. .In July, police executed a search warrant related to the investigation for the home of Paula Clemons, Davis’s wife. .Law officials confiscated a “computer hard drive, cell phones, a copy of Vibe magazine that featured Tupac and tubs containing old photographs,” according to TMZ, noting they also took “several .40 caliber bullets.”.Davis, 60, claimed in a 2018 Netflix documentary he was one of four people in the Cadillac from which were fired the bullets that killed Tupac. He said he handed the murder weapon to Orlando Anderson, his nephew before it fired. The nephew has since died..He also talked about it in interviews following Tupac’s murder, as well as in his book, Compton Street Legend. In the 2019 memoir, Davis said he told federal and local authorities about his involvement in Tupac’s death. .“They offered to let me go for running a ‘criminal enterprise’ and numerous alleged murders for the truth about the Tupac and Biggie murders,” Davis wrote at the time, as he faced life in prison for drug charges. “They promised they would shred the indictment and stop the grand jury if I helped them out.”
