Just when Saskatchewanians and Manitobans thought winter was done, another two storms are on their way with an even bigger blizzard set to land this weekend..The storms will be spread out over the next five days..Central and northern Saskatchewan will get up to 10 cm of snow starting Tuesday morning with 70 km/h winds..“The hardest-hit areas will be Saskatoon and the northern greenbelt with 5-10 cm on Tuesday evening, and then south through southern Manitoba with, again, 5-10 cm, maybe a few pockets of 10 cm or more, but not as significant as the last system,” said Brian Luzny, a meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada..Wet snow mixed with rain and heavy winds could make driving difficult with reduced visibility..Areas near the Alberta border by Lloydminster can expect to be hit hardest with 10-15 cm of snow..People around Estevan in southeast Saskatchewan, which received 40 cm this past week, will only see about 1 cm..Regina can expect heavy winds with a little snow..“On Tuesday, we’ll have southeasterly winds ahead of the low, gusting up to 60 km/h in southeastern Saskatchewan. And then kind of wrapping around the low and hitting Shaunavon, Leader and the Swift Current region, we could see wind gusts reaching 80 km/hr,” said Luzny..The snow may trigger snowfall warnings in both Saskatchewan and Manitoba, but the snowstorm will go quickly through the region..The big storm is expected to arrive later this week with blizzard conditions..Heavy snowfall and rain mixed with strong winds will remind people of the storm before Easter weekend..The difference with this next storm is the rain..“This system, in contrary to the other one, it looks to be a lot warmer, with a lot more wet precipitation, especially for southern Manitoba than the previous one,” said Luzny..Chris Oldcorn is a Western Standard Reporter based in Regina.coldcorn@westernstandard.news.Twitter: @chrisoldcorn.Parler: @chrisoldcorn
