Regina Police Service’s (RPS) SWAT team had a standoff with a man and a woman near the North West Leisure Centre on Sunday..The RPS team went to the 1100 block of North Blanchfield Street just before 11 am after a ride-sharing service driver called the police..When officers arrived on the scene, they learned that the two people showed the gun to the driver. The couple claimed they were attempting to sell the gun..After arriving, the two people then left the vehicle without paying and went to a residence..Around 4:20 pm, the SWAT team arrived and the woman left the residence about five minutes later and was arrested..The man, who had many outstanding warrants from Regina and Fort Qu’Appelle, was arrested around 6:35 pm..Officers found ammunition on him and searched the house and found the gun..The man violated his release orders to keep the peace..A 30-year-old Regina woman and a 27-year-old Pasqua First Nation man were charged..The couple made their first Provincial Court appearance on Monday.
