Some Clemson University students were upset and protested because tampon machines were taken out of the men’s bathrooms in the library after the College Republicans complained about it.About 50 students held up colourful signs saying "Destigmatize menstruation" and "Hello, it’s the 21st century." They demanded the school return the tampon machines to the men’s bathrooms.“If you weren’t aware already, Clemson University has tampon/pad dispensers in the MEN’S restrooms located in Cooper Library. We truly live in a [clown] world,” the College Republicans tweeted on September 13..Take Back Pride arranged a protest. They believe the tampon machines were “unjustly” removed from the men’s bathrooms. Take Back Pride wants the machines put back and the College Republicans group reprimanded for the removal, according to the College Fix.“Queer people on this campus are not just going to magically disappear,” Take Back Pride organizer Pan Tankersley told the College Fix.“So instead of working against us, like taking away menstrual products from the men’s bathrooms, making people feel unwelcomed, there should be support for the community that is already fighting to feel safe here. If anything, the university needs to step up and needs to protect its students.”The machines were removed from the men’s bathroom just three days after the complaint. Take Back Pride said the machines were vandalized after the College Republicans spoke out against them.“Men are men. Women are women. Of course, men can not menstruate. Of course, we spoke out against that,” College Republicans Chairman Trevor Tiedeman told WSPA 7News.“Of course, these people think the opposite and that’s why they’re out here protesting us. We have simply stood up for biological reality. They reject what we believe and so they want us to get removed from campus.”In the WSPA 7News interview, Tiedeman said the people who put the tampon machines in the bathrooms should lose their jobs.
