The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) will eliminate its COVID-19 vaccine policy for workers effective November 27. .A Thursday press release said while proof of vaccination will no longer be required for TTC employees, it will be updating its conditions of employment policy to include compliance with similar policies in the future if required. .The TTC introduced its vaccine mandate in 2021 after consulting with public health officials and following the science. The release said the policy was meant to eliminate employee illnesses and allow the transit system to continue delivering its essential services during the COVID-19 pandemic. .It said eligible employees who were terminated due to this policy will be offered the opportunity to be reinstated by the TTC. They will be ineligible for back pay, but their seniority will be preserved. .To date, almost 15,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered on TTC properties.
