Vancouver trans-rights activist Jessica Yaniv appears to have assaulted Rebel Media video journalist Keean Bexte in a video posted to Twitter..Yaniv was appearing at a BC courthouse on prohibited weapons charges when Bexte asked from approximately 20 feet away, “Will you be pleading guilty?” Yaniv then turns from where she was headed and a struggle ensued. The camera held by Bexte shows evidence of a struggle, but appears to show Yaniv punching him..Yaniv then yells, “Go away from me!” as Bexte says “You fucking crazy…thing”..Yaniv made global headlines for using the BC Human Rights Tribunal to attempt to force a group of immigrant women to wax her testicals..Human Rights Tribunals rarely rule against a complainant in Canada unless there is significant prior bad publicity. In Yaniv’s case, the tribunal found that the principle of her complaint was sound, but that she was requesting waxing appointments with the intention of filing complaints..In a statement, Beaxte said that charges should be laid..“Following Yaniv’s court appearance at the courthouse in Surrey I approached him outside – where filming was allowed. I had one question, I wanted to know if he would be pleading guilty or not. Within several seconds, Yaniv charged me and punched the back of my head while holding me down. .Police have been reluctant to charge him before, and so I’m speaking to legal council to figure out my options to make sure this menace sees justice.”
