Airdrie United Conservative Party (UCP) MLA Angela Pitt has resigned from her position as UCP leadership candidate Rajan Sawhney’s campaign co-chair. .“Issues like Airdrie’s inadequate urgent care facility and the EMS crisis must be resolved and I am working hard to do that,” said Pitt in a Sunday Facebook post. .“With that, I am stepping away from my role as Chair of The Rajan Sawhney Campaign.”.Pitt said it is time for her to “step back into alignment with my constituents and my values.” She added she supports standing up to Ottawa and respecting individual freedoms. .She called Sawhney “a wonderful, smart and compassionate person.” Pitt went on to say the leadership candidate loves Alberta and her community. .Pitt said the UCP has to remember why it was elected and what needs to be done..“I will do my part to ensure the conservative movement in Alberta remains united as we rebuild a free and prosperous future for our province,” she said. .Pitt went public with her anger at Alberta Premier Jason Kenney in 2021 for holding a Sky Palace dinner violating COVID-19 restrictions..READ MORE: UCP MLA Pitt blasts Kenney over Sky Palace party.“Looking at these photos it seems clear to me that several health restrictions were violated,” she said. .“Much of the public concern about this incident has been about the hypocrisy of senior officials breaking their own rules.”
