The Saskatchewan United Party (SUP) is touring the province doing town halls for their signatures drive..The Western Standard spoke with sources within the SUP about how the signature drive was going..“Our goal is to have the required number of signatures by the end of May and we could have the signatures even sooner,” said a source..Elections Saskatchewan (ES) requires 2,500 voter signatures, including at least 100 or more signatures in a minimum of 10 different ridings..The SUP’s primary focus is to get the signatures as fast as possible and the ES began allowing digital signatures for the SUP’s signature drive..Once ES receives the required signatures, the SUP can open an office, get a bank account, and raise money..According to a source, there are significant fundraisers just waiting for the official party paperwork who are ready to go raise money..The SUP is well over half the way to the required signatures needed to become an official party under ES requirements..The town halls are averaging more than 200 per meeting, with the largest gathering of more than 1,200 in Saskatoon..Town hall attendees expressed to the SUP leadership how the government lost touch with the average person and how much they're suffering under the mandates and the rising cost of living..“I don’t think the government or the opposition realize just how much the public is suffering.
