The Government of Saskatchewan released its weekly COVID-19 report and the total number of COVID-19 cases continues to drop each week, with only 766 new cases..Two weeks ago, the province saw 890 new cases and 829 last week..Most of the new cases were people 50 years and older (56%)..The weekly positivity rate went from 11.7% to 10.1% this week, with all the cases being the Omicron variant. .Average daily hospital admissions went down by 10 per day from 35 last week to 25 this week..The total amount of people in the hospital with COVID-19 dropped by 19 people from 409 last week to 390 this week..The total amount of people in the hospital because of COVID-19 went from 166 to 135 week over week. That’s a drop of 31 people in a single week, which is about a 20% decrease in people in the hospital because of COVID-19..Deaths remained stable at 14 per week for the last two weeks..Saskatchewanians getting the vaccine has completely stalled..There’s been no change in the number of people getting at least one dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine at 85.8% or people getting both shots stuck at 80.8%..The number of people getting the booster doses (third or fourth shot) went up slightly at 0.2% this week from 51.8% to 52%..The province ended its use of the AstraZeneca vaccine on April 30, 2022..Last week, there were 22 COVID-19 outbreaks in long-term care and care home settings. This week there are only 17 outbreaks..COVID-19 numbers in the province continue to consistently trend downward.
