British Columbia RCMP, the Independent Contractors and Business Association (ICBA), and Crime Stoppers are offering up to $100,000 for any information leading to the arrest and charge of any person responsible for the Coastal GasLink (CGL) camp attack. .“The amount of destruction and extreme violent behaviour by these criminals went far beyond the scope of protesting an issue,” said British Columbia RCMP Gold Commander John Brewer in a Monday press release. .“They have victimized innocent individuals who were simply doing their job.” .RCMP started investigating in February after CGL security guards were confronted by a group of people armed with weapons at their work site near Houston, BC. .READ MORE: Violent attack on Coastal GasLink workers causes millions of dollars damage.“Approximately 20 masked and violent attackers wearing camouflage surrounded and attacked Coastal GasLink workers in a highly planned and dangerous unprovoked assault,” said CGL. .“This coordinated and criminal attack from multiple directions threatened the lives of several workers.” .The release said police attended the scene and discovered various objects along the route on the forestry roads to impede passage. It said there were downed trees, tar covered stumps, wire, boards with spikes in them, and fires lit throughout the debris at the 41 km mark, while an old school bus blocked the 43 km mark. .The RCMP has conducted a number of interviews and followed up on several leads. There have not been any new tips received in recent months that would identify the people responsible. .ICBA President Chris Gardner said the people working on CGL are “highly trained and skilled and are building an incredible national legacy of which we can all be proud.”.“Their expertise and hard work should be upheld as an example of Canadian ingenuity and exceptionalism,” said Gardner. .“They deserve no less than a full investigation and the assurance that the perpetrators of this attack will be held accountable and brought to justice.”.Brewer said he knows “there are people out there who have information on these perpetrators, and we’re urging you to do the right thing and call us.”.“Allow the police to hold them accountable,” he said. .Anyone with information about this incident or knows who the suspects are is asked to contact Houston RCMP at (250) 845-2204 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
