The Regina Police Service (RPS) is warning the public that taking illegal drugs can be deadly after three people have died from drug overdoses on the last two days..Between July 1 to 19, there have been 12 deaths that are suspected to be from overdoses..From January 1 to July 19, there have been 84 suspected overdose deaths, compared to the 71 deaths during the same period in 2022..The RPS said the suspected overdose deaths are happening all over the city, with about half of them occurring in the inner city areas. .Most of the people who have died are men between the ages of 30 and 40..There have been a few incidents where it took more than one dose of Naloxone to help save someone’s life who had overdosed..The RPS urges the public to carry and learn how to use Naloxone, also known as Narcan. Free Naloxone kits are available for anyone interested..The RPS suggests that drug users make a plan to stay safe and avoid getting hurt. .It is important not to be alone and to find services in the community that can help reduce harm..For anyone helping in an overdose situation, Saskatchewan has the Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act. .This Act helps people who are having a drug overdose or anyone who is with them during an overdose.
