Airdrie Rural RCMP is investigating after two cows were found killed, skinned, and the meat removed, said an RCMP press release Thursday morning..The cows were discovered on April 4 in Kneehill County behind the Swalwell cemetery..The animals are estimated to have been dumped between March 31 and April 4..There is no known owner of the cows at this time..RCMP is asking anyone with information to come forwards to the Airdrie RCMP at 403-945-7200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.The slaughtered cows are estimated to have a value of $5,000..The price of beef is 13% higher than a year ago, according to Statistics Canada..Grocery prices went up 6.5% in a year as of January 2022, chicken increased 9%, fish increased 7.9%, margarine increased 16.5%, fresh fruit increased by 8.2%, and bakery products rose by 7.4%..Annual inflation for February was recorded at a record high, at 5.7%, Statistics Canada reported..Ewa Sudyk is a reporter with the Western Standard.,.esudyk@westernstandard.news
