Canadian weightlifter Maude Charron won the silver medal for Canada in women’s 59-kg weight class Thursday at the South Paris Arena in the 2024 Olympics. She hoisted 236 kg. Luo Shifang of China won the gold medal with 241-kg, followed by Kuo Hsing-Chun of Taiwan with 235 kg. Charron, 31 and from Rimouski, QC, won the gold at the 2021 Tokyo Games. Charron’s medal brings Team Canada’s total up to 20, including six gold, five silver and nine bronze.
