A nondisabled transgender woman is identifying as "transabled" or disabled, even though there’s nothing wrong with her and it seems to have divided the internet..Jørund Viktoria Alme, 53, told Good Morning Norway during a recent interview she always wished she had been born a woman who was paralyzed from the waist down..Alme recalled the day she wanted to be "transabled" when she was in elementary school. Another student turned up one day with a splint and put it on her legs and offered crutches.."My heart pounded, my pulse increased and I was activated in my body. I was incredibly focused on him and what this was all about," Alme said in an interview with Good Morning Norway.."As I understand it in retrospect, it was a recognition of the situation and that it was I who should have been there.".Five years ago, Alme decided to get a wheelchair despite not needing one shocking her wife Agnes.."I didn't know what it would do, but I had a very 'aha' experience when I got to sit in that chair," Alme said.."When my legs are allowed to rest completely, it stops the triggering of the [body integrity identity disorder], so I get a lot of rest and can use my resources for other things.".Now, she uses a wheelchair to get around unless she decides she has to walk for "practical reasons," such as to get on and off planes.."I hope that no one takes it bad that I use the wheelchair as an aid because it helps me," she said when asked about how people might react to her situation..Social media was quick to react to what Alme said.."Some of us have to use a wheelchair all of the time and can't opt out," a social media user said. ."I’m a seriously disabled veteran, who has many problems after being injured by an IED. If he she, they, or them wants to be disabled so badly I wish I could pass my injuries to them. Then see if you want it so bad after two hours of really being disabled. It seems she/he has a lot of problems with who they are, maybe instead of a wheelchair, they can benefit from very intense therapy."."The leftists are getting weirder and weirder," another user said..Other social media users showed sympathy for Alme.."Why are people angry about this? If the lady wants to ride around in a wheelchair, it's a free country. The GOPers always talk about freedom, but then they want to deny it to people that aren't hurting anyone. She says she doesn't park in handicapped parking," a social media user said.."Yes, it's strange and difficult to understand. It's probably also very provocative for actual wheelchair users! But there is a diagnosis behind it here! Mental illness is real, even if it sometimes seems completely incomprehensible," one Twitter user wrote..Body integrity identity disorder, also known as body integrity dysphoria, is a rare disorder characterized by "an intense and persistent desire" to become physically disabled..It's unclear if Alme has been diagnosed with this disorder.
