About 30% of Canadians believe British Columbia is the best province or territory apart from their own, according to a poll done by Leger. .The poll said Canadians’ second favourite province is Alberta (12%). This was followed by Nova Scotia and Ontario (10%) and Prince Edward Island (8%). .Men (14%) were more likely than women (10%) to say Alberta is their favourite province. People aged 18 to 34 years old (15%) were more likely than those 55+ (9%) to state they love Alberta the most. .The poll went on to say the top reason why Canadians chose their favourite province was geography and landscapes, at 51%. .The second most common reason was province’s nature and wildlife (42%). This was followed by it being more relaxed and laid-back (27%), the people (25%), and it being different than their province or territory (24%). .Quebec topped Canadians’ list as people’s least favourite province or territory besides their own at 21%. .One-in-10 Canadians said their least favourite province was Alberta. Following Alberta were Nunavut (9%), Saskatchewan (8%), and Ontario (7%). .The largest proportion of Canadians who said they hated Quebec were Atlantic Canadians (34%). About 26% of Ontarians said they despised Quebec. .The poll said the top reason people gave for hating their least favourite province was its people (26%). .Another top reason was it's boring (25%). Other common responses people gave included it's too far away (22%), not knowing anyone living there (20%), and there being nothing to do (19%). .The poll suggested 29% of Canadians believe Quebec is a very serious threat to national unity. About 17% of them said it's not a threat, and 17% did not know. .There were 16% of respondents who said Alberta is a very serious threat. One-quarter of them said it is not a threat, and 20% were unsure. .This poll comes after Alberta Premier Jason Kenney kicked off a campaign August 15 to lure skilled workers from Toronto and Vancouver..Kenney said the marketing campaign will recruit skilled workers to Alberta by touting the province's lower taxes, housing affordability, shorter commutes, and proximity to the Rocky Mountains. The campaign will see $2.6 million spent on ads on social media, radio and posters in high-traffic areas..“Alberta is back in a big way, but one of the biggest challenges to sustaining that amazing growth is having enough people who are filling the jobs that are being created,” he said. .The poll was conducted online with 1,516 Canadians aged 18 years and older from August 19 to 21.
