Moxies restaurant is on the receiving end of a social media outcry after video footage revealed several staff cheering on Gaza demonstrators in Toronto. Moxies issued a formal statement — in the comments section of the video. The video, posted by Caryma Sa'd, shows hundreds of demonstrators marching past a Moxies restaurant with Palestinian flags and signs that read “Genocide is not Self Defence,” “Free Palestine,” “To Stand with Palestine is to Stand with Humanity,” “Stop Funding Genocide,” and to “beware” of Allah and those “oppressed” that pray to him. Three female servers stand on the stairs chatting with one of the protestors, who holds a sign saying “Western Media is Lying to You.” One of the women takes a photo before she goes back to join the march and then all three begin cheering, dancing, and clapping loudly. A man who appears to be the manager appears on the stairs and takes photos while smiling and waving at the demonstrators..“We are deeply committed to a safe & respectful space for our team, guests & community. The actions of our employees do not reflect our company views,” Moxies wrote in the comments section of the video. “Participating in demonstrations is not permitted in uniform/on premises, and is certainly not reflective of our corporate culture.”“We sincerely apologize to anyone impacted negatively by these actions. We ask that our team behaves respectfully & demonstrate empathy & sensitivity & can assure you that a formal investigation has been launched & appropriate disciplinary actions will be taken for all involved.”“Moxies condemns any forms of violence, and our hearts are with the innocent civilians who are suffering and those in our communities who are hurting.”.The actions of Moxies staff in the video were not well received by the public. “Well done Moxies well done!
