Two rival Alberta biker gangs caused enough trouble in Cranbrook, BC over the weekend that a hospital had to lockdown as a result..Around 7 p.m. Friday, July 23, Cranbrook RCMP were called in to respond to a fight happening in a Chevron parking lot between dozens of members of two rival Alberta biker gangs. According to eye witnesses on the scene — who preferred to remain anonymous for fear of repercussion — it was straight out of a TV show “like Sons of Anarchy.”.The two gangs allegedly involved, the Hells Angels and the Rebels, each had more than a dozen members involved in a physical altercation ending with at least five individuals escorted to the hospital for non-life-threatening stab wounds..RCMP maintained a perimeter around the hospital while the outlaw bikers were being treated and did not allow members of both gangs to enter the medical facility. The RCMP were also able to prevent any further fights from breaking out between the gangs in the parking lot of the hospital..It has so far been determined by the RCMP the two rival Alberta gangs were simply passing through Cranbrook and did not have any official business there..After receiving treatment, one of the gangs were escorted out of Cranbrook by the RCMP. The RCMP do not believe this incident has any connection to the recent gang violence taking place in Lower Mainland BC..Jackie Conroy is a reporter for the Western Standard.jconroy@westernstandardonline.com
