The arrest came after the RCMP received a report in March this year about an alleged assault that happened near Viscount, Sask in November 2021.May claimed the man who was allegedly assaulted by MacKenzie was a former member of Diagolon who had a falling out with the group's leaders."I think there were times when he didn't feel supported by Jeremy, and he ended up turning on Diagolon," she said.On Thursday night, the RCMP claimed their decision to arrest MacKenzie was not influenced by Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre's request on Monday for the RCMP to look into comments made about his wife. The RCMP warrant for MacKenzie's arrest, which had been confined to Saskatchewan for months, was made Canada-wide on Wednesday.During a recent livestream, MacKenzie made a crude joke about Poilievre's wife Anaida. "She is hot as f*ck. Oh my goodness," MacKenzie said. "Like a midnight snack, when everyone's asleep, I'm gonna sneak into this fridge and cut myself off a piece of that Venezuelan brown cake. He also requested the RCMP look into the comments.Diagolon has been on the RCMP's radar since back in February, when patches bearing the group's flag were found alongside a cache of weapons seized by the RCMP. May also said she believed MacKenzie had been "pushed to his limits," that day due to the stress surrounding her arrest.."He was very upset that I was arrested arbitrarily, and I think he just felt out of control. And he definitely had too much to drink," she said. "When we have so many court cases on the go, and when he's being so challenged by the RCMP and by the government and is under a ton of public scrutiny, it's just not the time to get wasted and say stupid sh*t on the internet.".May said she hopes when MacKenzie gets out of jail he will give a public apology for his remarks. ."But when you know someone's heart and what they're fighting for, it will take a lot more than comments like that for me to throw in the towel on them," she said.
