The Calgary Police Service (CPS) has charged a 16-year-old with trying to hire a hitman to kill another youth.."On Friday, May 13, 2022, we received a complaint from a citizen stating that a 16-year-old person asked them to murder another youth in exchange for payment," said CPS in a Wednesday release.."After a six-week investigation, officers gathered enough evidence to support charging the youth."“This is a very serious and disturbing incident,” says Staff-Sgt. Colin Chisholm.“We are thankful police were notified and could investigate before anything tragic happened. As a service, our priority is to ensure public safety of all Calgarians.”The youth was arrested without incident on Tuesday and cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.Police did not say whether the accused is male or female.The youth is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday charged with one count of counsel to commit murder, one count of breach of a court order and one count of possession of marijuana.
