Calgary city councillor Gian-Carlo Carra says he's sorry for failing to register his interest in a real estate matter. .“I endeavoured to achieve the highest possible ethical conduct with regards to my family’s evolving interest in 66 New Street S.E., the complaint, and subsequent investigation by our integrity commissioner alerted me to the fact that I had failed to register that interest on the Member of Council Disclosure Statement,” said Carra in a Monday statement. .While Carra’s interest in the property evolved over the last seven years, he said the integrity commissioner’s ruling is fair. He said he should have disclosed his stake in 66 New Street in 2015..He went on to say he should have disclosed his interest when he registered for the title in 2021. .Despite this incident being a paperwork mistake, he said he's “grateful that this kind of records management, and disclosure is important to how councillors are required to conduct themselves.” .“I accept the commissioner’s ruling and council’s sanction, and I apologize to council and all Calgarians,” he said. .A police investigation was launched into Carra in April after an apparent case of road rage was reported involving another person and him. .READ MORE: UPDATED: Calgary councillor Carra under police investigation.He stepped down from the Calgary Police Commission when the investigation was confirmed. .Calgary police confirmed it had contacted Edmonton police and requested they “lead an independent investigation.”
