Conservative MP Ron Liepert (Calgary Signal Hill) announced he will not be seeking reelection to the House of Commons. .“I want to thank my constituents for the trust they have placed in me as their Member of Parliament since 2015,” said Liepert in a Friday statement. .“It has been a sincere honour to serve.” .Liepert said he believes the time has come for him “to stand aside and allow for new voices to come forward to represent our community.” .With the next election coming up soon, he said he has “every confidence Pierre Poilievre and our Conservative team will form Canada’s next federal government.” While he is disappointed he will not have the opportunity to serve in a Poilievre government, he said he hopes making this announcement today will give the community time to select an excellent candidate. .He will continue to serve as the MP for Calgary Signal Hill until the next Canadian election scheduled for on or before Oct. 20, 2025. .Conservative MP Bob Benzen (Calgary Heritage) announced in October he would be leaving politics and resigning his seat at the end of the year..READ MORE: Calgary Tory MP announces he's leaving politics."It was never my intention to become a career politician," said Benzen. ."As my time in public service comes to an end, I look forward to returning to private business and family life."
