Gian-Carlo Carra — who is facing a criminal charge over an alleged road rage incident — is having his case sent to an alternative dispute program. .CBC News Calgary reported Wednesday Carra’s defence lawyer Pawel Milczarek appeared in court requesting an adjournment to give him time to complete the program. .Carra said in 2022 he was the victim after it was revealed he was involved in a police investigation into a road rage incident. .READ MORE: CARRA: I’m the victim here.He recused himself from the Calgary Police Commission because of the investigation. .He said his dog was almost run over by a person who ran a stop sign, and the driver and the people in the vehicle verbally attacked him. While the driver admitted to not seeing him in the crosswalk, he said he “became increasingly verbally irate and as I stood my ground, escalated to physically assaulting me.”.Carra was charged with mischief over the dispute in December. .READ MORE: Calgary councillor charged over road rage incident.“On Dec. 9, 2022, Mr. Carra was criminally charged with mischief under $5,000 relating to the incident that occurred on April 2, 2022,” said the Edmonton Police Service (EPS). .EPS said it was asked to conduct the investigation soon after the incident. It was assigned to a detective in the EPS Investigative Response Section. .While a probation officer will decide what conditions are appropriate, people referred to the program often complete community service, pay restitution, and offer a written apology. .This means there will be no courtroom admission of wrongdoing on Carra’s part. .If he completes the program, his charge will be withdrawn in September. .Milczarek declined to comment.
