Conservative leadership candidate Roman Baber said he's seeing "real propaganda" in Canada that reminds him of his childhood in the Soviet Union.."I know what real propaganda is. I lived under a communist regime for the first nine years of my life," Baber said.."Now I am seeing propaganda in Canada, in full force and like its definition, funded by Government.".On August 18, the CBC posted an article on newly disclosed documents showing that federal intelligence officials warned that the removal of the Freedom Convoy could prompt an "opportunistic attack" against politicians..The Independent Ontario MPP said the intelligence assessment was "false" because the protestors remained peaceful. He pointed out that no loaded weapons were found near the site, despite reporting by the Toronto Star that was later found to be incorrect.."But instead of describing the intelligence assessment as false, or criticizing the federal government for its response, the CBC maintains the fear narrative and demonizes peaceful Canadians, much like the federal government that funds the CBC," Baber said.."This is precisely what propaganda is. Lies, funded by government, seeking to justify government action or political agenda.".Baber reiterated that he will end bailouts and subsidies to all Canadian media organizations "on day one" and that he would sell the CBC off "before lunch time." He also committed to ending all the government advertising, which he claimed has kept the media alive in the last few years..There is no free speech without free and independent media. I will end all financial dependency by media on government and challenge the radical left-wing ideologues that run it," he said.
