Governments across Canada have to promote fossil fuel development to create a fairer world, said Fossil Future author Alex Epstein at a talk hosted by the Alberta Prosperity Project (APP) at the Westin Calgary Airport. .“It is tough to persuade people about energy issues because they have been indoctrinated,” said Epstein at the Friday event. .Epstein said the anti-fossil fuel movement is “one where millions of people could die if they succeed.” He said he knew he had to speak up. .When evaluating any issue, he said people must look at the full content by weighing the benefits and consequences. One benefit he said people do not think about with fossil fuels is they allow people to power technology. .Epstein created three irrefutable principles for evaluating fossil fuels. These three principles were factoring in fossil fuel benefits, factoring in their climate mastery benefits, and thinking about their negative and positive climate side effects. .Epstein spoke about his 10 undeniable facts about fossil fuels. He encouraged people to use these facts when speaking about the industry. .The first undeniable fact is cost-effective energy is essential to human flourishing. Affordable, reliable, versatile energy will lead to people having more income, opportunities, and fulfillment. .He said fossil fuels benefit people's health because they create hydro-carbon based materials. He added they make the world more productive by powering technology. .The author went on to say fossil fuels free up people’s time. He said “you get innovation when people have time to think.” .Another undeniable fact he spoke about was billions of people lack cost-effective energy. He said one-third of the world relies on animal dung for power. .Epstein said fossil fuels work because of natural storage, concentration, and abundance. The one other form of energy sharing these properties is nuclear. .He said what fossil fuels have that nuclear energy does not is years of innovation. The nuclear industry has not innovated because of the green movement. .Epstein continued by saying the world could use carbon emissions because it would warm it up. He said more people die from cold deaths than from the heat. .Accurate climate projections show the areas heating up the most are cold places. The worst case scenarios show them developing tropical weather, which he said would make them more bearable. .Epstein concluded by saying more people need to be educated about the energy industry. .“Net zero is an evil idea,” he said. .“The world needs energy freedom.” .APP CEO Dennis Modry said this talk coincides with the organization launching a hydrocarbon prosperity campaign. .“This campaign will push back against the false narrative of a climate crisis,” said Modry. .“The APP will continue to educate the public about why prosperity is needed for major industries.” .Once the Alberta government proves it cannot end equalization, Modry said a mandate can be requested to negotiate with other provinces and the Canadian government about independence. He said he hopes people learned many facts from the event. .This talk comes after Trudeau said in August Canada will not be shipping natural gas to Europe to address the continent’s energy crisis. .READ MORE: Trudeau rejects exporting Canadian natural gas to Europe.“Canada is a major oil and gas producer in the world,” he said. .“But because of our commitment to fight climate change, we are working very, very hard to decarbonize and develop other sources of energy that we can rely on and we can share with the world.”
