About 100 people showed up to a Take Back Alberta (TBA) rally at the Southside Victory Church in Calgary. .“Take Back Alberta wants to take back more than the provincial government,” said TBA executive director David John Parker at the Sunday event. .“We want to take back our school boards, municipalities, the college of physicians and surgeons, and destroy the AHS (Alberta Health Services).” .Phase One for TBA was to remove Alberta Premier Jason Kenney. Phase Two is to vote for the most pro-freedom Alberta United Conservative Party leadership candidate, which Parker said would be Danielle Smith or Todd Loewen. .He said Phase Three is to elect pro-freedom candidates to the Alberta UCP board. He introduced UCP vice president policy and governance candidate Ray Strom and Calgary director candidate Peter Weichler. .Parker spoke about there being 24 constituency associations in Edmonton with less than 200 members sitting on their boards. He said TBA will take over every constituency association board in Edmonton. .He recalled how he tried to convince Conservative MPs to vote against a bill restricting abortion in 2013 despite being pro-life. A friend asked him when he would stand up for his principles, and he responded once pastors were being arrested. .Kenney arrested pastors, so Parker defended his principles. He challenged Kenney and lost his network. .Because Jitsu creator Drew Weatherhead spoke about how COVID-19 restrictions led to him losing his business and having his family move into a mobile home. .“Those same people that put the abuse upon us, where we ended up on the ground pummelled not knowing what to do with our hands, those people are still out there,” said Weatherhead. .“And they will do it again.” .Weatherhead said TBA supporters have to “take this time to defend ourselves to build the ability to take advantage of their weak points before they take advantage of ours again.” If people want to do the work, he said they will be able to change the system. .Former Heartland actor Graham Wardle said he was nervous about speaking out against COVID-19 restrictions because he did not want to lose his acting career. .“I had a story in my mind that I would never do something like this,” said Wardle. .“I had to look at that story and go is this really true.” .Wardle said these stories might dissuade people from becoming political activists. He said all people have to do to dismantle these stories is “examine the reasons you’ve given yourself about why that’s true.” .Parker said Kenney “raped democracy.” He added he is so angry at what this politician has done. .The event continued with him asking every row to think of one way to fix Alberta. The crowd was broken up into groups and given 15 minutes to think of solutions before a representative would speak on stage. .The first speaker said her group wants to take back education. The solutions her group proposed were sovereignty and setting up school pods. .People spoke about Alberta needing to fix healthcare, energy, and accountability.
