True North senior journalist Andrew Lawton will be holding a live edition of The Andrew Lawton Show at the Canada Strong and Free Network Regional Conference on Saturday. .“After two and-a-half years of virtual events and meetings, I was thrilled to be invited to do a live edition of my podcast on stage — something I've never done before,” said Lawton in an interview. .“I'm looking forward to it.” .This live edition will feature a monologue, interviews, and audience interaction. .Lawton said the fun part of the live edition will be having an audience. He said he never knows when he talks into his microphone in studio “if people are laughing at my jokes or falling asleep, so the energy of a live audience is really exciting.” .Lawton will be having Conservative MP Tom Kmiec and Parents for Choice in Education Executive Director John Hilton-O’Brien on his show as guests. The journalist called Kmiec “a friend of independent media and a great representative of not only conservatism, but the west.” .He said he will be speaking with Kmiec about his private member’s bill to take on corporate wokeism and social justice activism. .This Conservative MP announced on September 9 he is working on a bill to hold business officers and directors accountable for corporate wokeism. .His bill will amend Section 122 of the Canada Business Corporations Act, which is focused on the duty of care officers and directors owe to their shareholders. It would ensure officers and directors prioritize the interests of shareholders above political agendas unrelated to their company’s business purpose..The bill said it would be “considered a breach in the duty of care owed to shareholders when directors and officers of a large distributing corporation (a company with a total market value of shares above $100 million) make activist statements." .Hilton-O’Brien said he will be speaking to Lawton about social justice theories in schools and how the educational establishment feels it does not have to consult parents. .“The school board elections in BC and Ontario are critical,” said Hilton-O’Brien..“If we do not go to the polls, they are likely to be captured by leftist extremists and their allies in the educational establishment, whose power and revenue expands through leftist intervention.” .Hilton-O’Brien said there's a lack of support for school choice in Canada because of its colonial past. He said improving school choice requires fair and equitable funding for all educational options, curriculum reform, and parental rights. .Lawton will hold a signing for his book, The Freedom Convoy: Inside Three Weeks That Shook the World, after the live taping. He said he has been “really humbled by the success of my book.”.Indigo confirmed in July it would not be carrying The Freedom Convoy in bookstores. .READ MORE: Indigo won't sell bestseller about Freedom Convoy."I'm disappointed a company I grew up buying books from doesn't think their customers are interested in something that is clearly resonating with people,” said Lawton. .Sutherland House Books said it approached Indigo about carrying The Freedom Convoy before its launch, but it was told the company was uninterested in stocking it and would offer a digital copy on its website. .While it is easy to focus on the Conservatives without the conservative movement, Lawton said “the reality is that the conservative movement is responsible for selling the conservative message, not any politician.” .“Canada Strong and Free Network gets that, so this event will be a great way of setting the tone for the conservative movement,” he said.
