Alberta Health Services (AHS) brought back its Toys for Tickets campaign, which gives people who have received a parking ticket the opportunity to donate a new, unwrapped toy rather than pay their fine. .“We paused the Toys for Tickets campaign during COVID-19 but, given its past success and positive reception, we are happy to launch it once again this holiday season,” said AHS Director of Parking Nick Ternovatsky in a Thursday press release. .The release said AHS Parking Services will be accepting toy donations as an alternative to paying for tickets issued between November 14 and December 16. It said toys should be in the original packaging and for ages newborn to 17 years. .The value of each toy must be at least $25 and toys will be donated to various children’s foundations and charities to be given out across Alberta. .AHS parking staff will mark the ticket as paid upon receiving a toy. Toys started to be accepted Monday at parking offices, and people have until December 16 to participate. .Recommended donations include books, art supplies, science kits, electronics, headphones, Lego sets, portable DVD players, rattles, baby toys, journals, activity books, crayons, colouring books, and gift cards for grocery stores and restaurants.
