UCP MLA for Chestermere-Strathmore Leela Aheer said anyone participating in the Alberta Prosperity Project/Rebel Media debate should be "held accountable for supporting this toxic culture."."I'm not going to mince words, white supremacy, homophobia and racism have been supported and encouraged for too long in politics," Aheer stated.."Anyone participating in the Prosperity Project Rebel Media debate should be held accountable for supporting this toxic culture.".The UCP leadership forum hosted by the APP and Rebel News is on August 25 in Edmonton.."If I become leader of our party and premier of Alberta, there will be no room for those who support this agenda," Aheer said.."Alberta has a set of core values and they are in direct opposition to what's on display here. Today I'm putting my foot down and saying enough, do better.".Former minister of children's services Rebecca Schulz also canceled on the event..On Friday, a Schulz spokesperson confirmed to CBC News that "she will also bail on the debate after having previously committed to attending.".Travis Toews also pulled out on the event..In a joint statement sent to CBC News, Toews and Schulz said "they were not attending because it's a fundraising event in support of a third-party advocacy group that supports an independent Alberta."."They also expressed concern with a plan laid out on the APP's website they say would set up a competing political party with constituency associations," CBC News reported.."We hope other candidates reconsider their positions supporting separatism," added Toews and Schulz..Tickets for the event are $150.
