Prominent Canadian political commentator Aaron Gunn announced he is seeking the Conservative nomination in North Island-Powell River, BC. .“Over the past few years, I’ve watched as the quality of life for Canadians has deteriorated,” said Gunn in a Friday press release. .“Whether it’s the cost of living, a collapsing healthcare system, or public safety, everything seems to be getting worse.” .Gunn said he hopes to flip North Island-Powell River from the NDP. .Since meeting and interviewing Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre in 2021, he said he has come to know the man who will be Canada’s next prime minister. He added Poilievre “has the vision, drive, and most importantly, the courage to stand up to Ottawa’s elites and finally defeat Justin Trudeau.” .He pledged to put taxpayers first, respect constitutional rights, and support the people who built and have continued to build Canada every day. .Gunn entered the race with an endorsement from Campbell River, BC, Mayor Kermit Dahl. .“In a time when politics can be divisive, Aaron stands out as a voice of reason, advocating for policies that benefit all residents of our community,” said Dahl. .“I wholeheartedly endorse Aaron and look forward to working with him as our new member of Parliament.” .He received the endorsement of Conservative MP Bob Zimmer (Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies, BC). .“Aaron is exactly the type of advocate North Island-Powell River deserves,” said Zimmer. .“Whether it’s being a voice for BC forestry, safer communities, law-abiding firearms owners, or a defender of free speech, I am confident Aaron will relentlessly fight for the people of his riding.” .He is set to launch his campaign on Saturday at 1 p.m. The event will take place in Comox, BC, at 1204 Lazo Rd. .For people to participate in the Conservative nomination contest, they must become party members. .Gunn concluded by saying he has spent the past few years producing documentaries seeking to uncover the truth and highlight the hardships facing many Canadians.
