The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) reached a tentative agreement with the Treasury Board (TB) for more than 120,000 federal government workers, with strike action continuing for the 35,000 Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) workers..The non-CRA workers are to return to work on May 1 at 9 a.m. EST or their next scheduled shift..The agreement covers the PA, SV, TC and EB bargaining groups..Starting on April 19, over 155,000 PSAC union members went on strike and PSAC said this was one of the largest strikes ever in Canada..During the nationwide strike, there were interruptions, such as delays at the border, immigration, passports and temporary “pauses” in processing new employment insurance applications..Negotiations for a new agreement started in June 2021, and by May 2022, PSAC said it was deadlocked with the TB, both parties filed labour complaints.
