New poll numbers showed the Manitoba New Democratic Party (NDP) is gaining popularity and on its way to a majority government..The Probe Research poll released on Wednesday revealed nearly half of the voters who have decided or are leaning towards a party will vote for the NDP on election day..In June, the NDP and Progressive Conservatives (PC) were tied with 41% support. However, the PCs slipped to 38% support, while the NDP rose to 49%. The Manitoba Liberals are currently at 9% and 11% of voters are still undecided..In Winnipeg, the NDP lead with 57% support, with the PCs at 28%. The Liberals poll slightly higher at 11%..The NDP is ahead in every quadrant of Winnipeg, with the closest race in the Northwest with the NDP at 45% and PCs at 42%..The biggest gap in Winnipeg can be seen in the city's centre, where the NDP has 68% support. The PCs and Liberals are in a close race for second place, with the PCs at 15% and the Liberals at 13%..In the northeast part of the city, the NDP leads with a 60-30 split, while the Liberals have 5% support..In both quadrants of south Winnipeg, the NDP has 55% support. On the other hand, the PCs have 24% support in the west and 30% in the east. The Liberals are at 18% in the west and 14% in the east..Only 9% of Winnipeggers are undecided..Manitobans were asked if they think each party leader is doing a good job..The NDP’s Wab Kinew is seen as doing the best, with a 51% approval rating, followed by Liberal’s Dougal Lamont at 38% and in third is PC’s Heather Stefanson at 32%..Stefanson also has a 48% disapproval rating and Kinew sits at a 27% disapproval rating..When respondents were asked about their voting history and plans for the upcoming election, it was found that half of those who voted for the Liberals in the last election said they would now support the NDP. Also, 16% of those who voted Conservative in the last election plan to switch their vote to the NDP this time.
