Ahoy they/them/their!.The US Navy has changed course..It’s now navigating through the turbulent waters of sensitive feelings by video-training sailors on how to create a “safe space” using proper gender pronouns..The Navy's top brass is no longer just focused on guarding increasingly threatened international waters, supply chain routes for about 80% of the world’s goods, and North America’s coastlines..The US navy has sailed adrift into woke ocean while China’s People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) is doubling the size of its destroyer fleet and building a global network of naval bases..Chinese and Russian warships have been circling Japan since mid-June in what the country’s defence ministry called a disturbing “show of force.”.Sailors, providing video verified by the Pentagon, claimed hundreds of UFOs with flashing lights and inexplicable capabilities swarmed US navy warships off the California coast in 2019, according to a June 27 Daily Mail article. More sightings have since been reported and dismissed by some as drones..US Navy warships entering the Persian Gulf were recently harassed by Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy (IRGCN) fast attack craft ... yet again..The US Navy issued strong warnings — flares, sirens, and maybe even hollered wrong pronouns — to stop the taunting elite Iranian commandos whose leaders aim to destroy the ‘Great Satan’ America..These troubled times require precision-like leadership from the President Joe Biden, the US military’s commander-in-chief..Uh-oh. Poor ol’ Joe fell off his bike on June 18 and hit his helmeted, already muddled, head hard on the pavement..So, it’s up to the commanders, including Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro, to set priorities and come up with a plan to strengthen the navy..Yes, yes, addressing pressing global challenges and threats is really, very important, but inclusiveness and pronoun etiquette, now there’s a critical priority they’ve identified..Enter Jony and Conchy..They hosted an official Pride Month instructional online four-minute video — its format inspired by a children’s show..The video is so painful to watch, but one can’t stop watching it in disbelief..“Hi, my name is Jony and I use he/him pronouns,” said engineer Jony Rozon, with the Naval Undersea Warfare Center..“Using the right pronouns is a really simple way to affirm someone’s identity. It’s a signal of acceptance and respect,” he said, dressed, no, not in a crisp naval uniform, silly, but a rainbow shirt..The video stresses the importance using correct pronouns and details proper etiquette when unsure of someone’s preferred pronouns..It tells sailors how to use inclusive language to show they are “allies” and create a “safe space” where everyone knows they are accepted..It explains in detail how to ensure they don’t misgender someone, even if that someone hasn’t figured out what their pronouns are, or aren’t ready to disclose..“A pronoun is how we identify ourselves apart from our name. It’s also how people refer to us in conversations,” said engineer Conchy Vasquez who goes by she/her..Well, isn’t that enlightening..What happens if one misgenders someone?.“I think the first thing to recognize is that it’s not the end of the world. You can correct yourself and move on, or you accept the correction and move on,” said Vasquez..“The most important thing I can tell you is do not put the burden of making you feel good about your mistake on the person you misgendered.”.When unsure, stick to gender-neutral language..“Instead of saying something like ‘Hey guys,’ you can say ‘Hey everyone,’ or ‘Hey team,” said Rozen..Jony and Conchy left so many unanswered questions..They didn’t provide any guidance at all on how to address superiors..Is ‘yes sir’ to be replaced by ‘yes he/him’ or ‘yes she/her’?.What about ‘man overboard?’ Is that now offensive?.In the time it would take to holler ‘they/them/their overboard’ — because one wouldn’t want to risk being insensitive or court-martialled — they/them/their might already be swept away..What about ships? Will someone be deeply offended if someone else sticks to the age-old maritime tradition of calling ships she? Oh, for sure. Count on it..They may excel at their jobs, but neither Jony nor Conchy — with their soft-spoken lecturing and airs of superiority — come across as skilled enough to stop a water fight in a wading pool..But there they are the voices of an enlightened navy — the most important military force in today’s world with a $210-billion annual budget and employing almost one million sailors, marines, reservists, and civilians..What percentage of these seasoned personnel are fretting about pronouns? Likely, less than a wee fraction..Most of them are more concerned about their mates’ ability to have their backs..They are the ones being insensitively disrespected..How demoralizing these woke lectures — that are required viewing — must be to men and women who just signed up to faithfully serve and who have earned their honour and ranks with bravery and sweat..This emphasis on gender-sensitivity is alien to navy personnel that have carried out formidable responsibilities with valour since 1775 — miraculously managing to do so, ignorant of proper pronoun etiquette..That’s it! Alien. Maybe those UFOs aren’t drones after all..Maybe a few extra-terrestrial beings were dropped off to infiltrate and weaken the navy after working their way up the ranks into decision-making positions..It’s the only explanation that makes sense..Del Toro — call home..This woke madness has infected the Canadian military, too.
