Unified Grassroots (UG) started their #DoYouStandForAllCanadians hashtag campaign to ask politicians if they represent all Canadians..The Western Standard sat down with Nadine Ness, UG founder, to discuss the group’s concerns about Canada and the need for the campaign..UG became a Saskatchewan non-profit organization in September 2021 after a few concerned parents and Ness became worried about the COVID-19 mandates, particularly in schools..“We were very concerned about the impact of COVID-19 school mandates and the negative effects on our children and felt we had to speak up,” said Ness..UG wants to spread the message across Canada that it is time to drop all COVID-19 mandates and return to a pre-COVID normal..The hashtag campaign's objective is the travel restrictions be dropped so the six million unvaccinated Canadians who cannot travel by plane, bus, train, or ferry are free again to move around the country and abroad..UG and Ness want politicians to put the interests of Canadians first instead of being influenced by those outside of Canada and private interests..“Why do we import oil and gas when we have all we need in Canada? Why send money that could stay inside of Canada to foreign countries?” said Ness..UG and Ness want the federal government to be held accountable to all Canadians, not a select few..“We want that question to be a question in the back of the minds of every politician anytime they make decisions or try to justify their own actions. We want them to feel convicted and accountable to all Canadians,” said Ness..Ness is concerned about politicians only standing with Canadians who agree with them and wants politicians to know that they are elected to serve all Canadians, not just the ones who voted for them..“We want them to know that all Canadians will be asking them that question anytime they post something new, or announce something. Are they standing for all Canadians or just the ones who agree with them or have the same views? Are they standing for all Canadians, or are they standing for outside influences?” said Ness.
