Jeremy Harrison .“Saskatchewan continues to set population and job growth records,” said Jenson..“StatsCanada job numbers show that Saskatchewan is one of the national leaders in economic development [with] 11,800 jobs added in November, a 2.1% increase in 2022, 464,900 new full-time jobs, [and] 271,000 women working.”.Jenson said there are “61,300 indigenous people working off-reserve” with a 6.6% indigenous unemployment rate, an all-time low..Saskatchewan’s population continues to grow and hit 1.2 million on Saturday..“To top it all off, this job growth, it’s population growth,” said Jenson..“Saskatchewan officially hit 1.2 million people, something that the opposition, university professors, and others said would be impossible.”.The population growth came from international immigration, as Saskatchewan added 7,365 immigrants..Immigration Minister Jeremy Harrison said the last time Saskatchewan saw this increase in population growth was back in the 1930s..“The most significant [is] population growth that we have not seen in this province since the 1930s,” said Harrison..“We look forward to that population growth continuing as we move forward despite the challenges that we’re seeing from federal economic policy.” .The Saskatchewan government “hopes to have 1,400,000 people living in the province by 2030.”.Saskatchewan NDP housing critic Meara Conway asked the government what the plan is to house the people coming to the province..
