A woman running for city council in Victoria, BC says — if elected — she’d increase the local police department’s budget in response to population growth..She’s also wanted by the same cops on an outstanding warrant..Riga Godron, 44, is facing charges of obstructing a police officer, fleeing from police, and driving without due care and attention following a July 1 incident..The Victoria Police Department (VicPD) says its officers had to “leap out of the way” when she refused to stop her vehicle. Godron then continued fleeing until police successfully boxed in her vehicle in the 600-block of Pandora Ave. before arresting, and subsequently releasing her pending a court hearing..She's now nowhere to be found..VicPD says bike officers were conducting patrols in James Bay prior to the July 1 incident and noticed a vehicle improperly parked in the 300-block of Dallas road, which had supposedly been impeding traffic for two hours..Police then observed a person standing across the street filming them..“After several minutes, that person then approached officers, identified themselves as the owner of the truck, and requested that officers stop traffic so they could leave,” said VicPD in a July statement..Officers told the then unnamed Godron she was not free to leave, thus leading to the aforementioned series of events..The city councillor hopeful is now wanted on a province-wide warrant..“If you see Riga Godron, do not approach her, and call 911,” said the department.
