Interior Health’s former chief medical health officer is facing more child sex crime charges out of Grand Prairie..Grand Prairie RCMP said Thursday that Albert de Villiers has been charged with voyeurism, invitation to sexual touching, and making sexually explicit material available to a child..Arrested Tuesday, de Villiers has since been released on multiple conditions, such as requiring supervision to be in the presence of anyone under the age of 16..The South Africa-trained doctor was first arrested on two charges for sex crimes against a child in June, 2021..Police had received information regarding sexual offences against a young child which took place between the years of 2018 and 2020. The investigation, conducted by Grande Prairie RCMP’s special investigation unit, began in May, 2021, and the then 52-year-old man was arrested in Kelowna, BC the following month and released shortly after..The same detachment launched the new investigation into further complaints against de Villiers in January this year, leading to his Tuesday arrest and subsequent release. Those offences allegedly occurred between January 2017 and December 2019..“As these matters are now before the courts, no further updates or details surrounding the incident will be provided,” said Grand Prairie RCMP’s Cpl.
