One youth has been arrested with charges pending following a “disturbing” bullying incident in Cloverdale earlier this week where a teen girl was beaten by dozens of her peers..On Saturday night around 9:30 p.m. Surrey RCMP received a call that a group of teens were yelling and screaming behind Hillcrest Elementary School in the 18500 block of 65 avenue.. BC Teens Swarm AttackThis video has been altered to protect the identity of the victim .The group dispersed when police arrived, with officers learning that “some kind of fight” had occurred..Mounties found a 15-year-old victim who had been swarmed and assaulted, and later arrested another teen who was believed to be the primary aggressor. The aggressor was released to their guardian with a future court date..The victim was reportedly punched in the face more than a dozen times, and, in a video circulating social media, the girl is seen being made to kiss the shoes of the aggressors..“The violence that was exhibited by these youth in this incident is extremely disturbing,” Cpl. Vanessa Munn, Surrey RCMP told the Western Standard..“It’s also concerning that there’s so many people that just stood by and allowed it to continue without taking any action to assist the victim or call police.”.Vancouver police is also warning the public about a sharp rise in violent attacks involving youth, highlighting investigations involving several swarming attacks, robberies, and reports of rituals intended to demean and humiliate peers, adding officers have encountered a “concerning” number of youth with imitation guns, bear spray, brass knuckles, and machetes near schools..Herd mentality often takes over during swarming incidents and can lead to tragic consequences, such as the killing of 14-year-old Reena Virk in 1997. Virk was swarmed and assaulted under a bridge in Saanich, BC by a group of teenagers. After the initial swarming, two of the aggressors followed Virk and killed her.
