UCP leadership candidate Danielle Smith received another endorsement to be the premier of Alberta..On Wednesday, Smith received an endorsement for her candidacy for leadership of the UCP from Associate Minister of Mental Health and Addictions and MLA for Calgary West Mike Ellis..“Danielle is honest, she’s ethical, she’s someone who cares deeply and passionately about the people of Alberta. She supports helping people with mental health and addictions issues. These are things I am passionate about and I know these are things Albertans are passionate about.” Ellis said..Before serving with the Legislative Assembly and giving Smith the thumbs up to be premier, Ellis spent 12 years with the Calgary Police Service..During his tenure, he served eight years in the position of constable and three as a patrol sergeant. In recognition of his service, he received a 10-year distinguished service medal in 2013..“As a former police officer, Mike has front-line expertise in the issues affecting our communities.
