Little seven-year-old Cason Feuser survived a terrifying cougar attack near Rocky Mountain House that left him with more than 200 staples to close his wounds. And his mom Chay says it was only the quick action of her best friend Alishea that saved Cason's life..Alishea offered take the kids camping with her from Friday to Monday to give Chay some alone time with her husband.."It happened on Sunday at like 11:45 am in the morning," Chay said in an interview with the Western Standard..Alishea took six kids to a river near a busy road in the Rocky Mountain House area.."She sat down Sunday morning after she made the kids all breakfast, it was just her and six kids camping," Chay said.."She just took a picture of her squirrel coffee cup full of coffee. She lifted up the coffee mug and snapped a picture and then like four minutes later, the attack happened.".Chay said all the kids were down by the river playing and they decided for whatever reason to come back to the trailer.."They all kind of like started to mosey on backup to the trailer and Cason was the last one of the pack and they heard something and they thought he just fell," said Chay..When they turned around they would get the fright of their lives — Cason had been knocked to the ground with the cat over top of him.."They just started screaming and running back to Alishea saying 'cougar, cougar' and she flew up out of her lawn chair and ran down there and grabbed a rock and stood over the cougar and just threw that rock as hard as she could at the attacking cat," said Chay..She said her best friend is not very athletic, but she believes God was on her side to save her little boy.."Cason's head was in the cougar's mouth," Feuser told the Western Standard.."The rock startled the cougar and it released him from his death grip.".The cougar then dashed off into the woods."Alishea just scooped up in her arms. And thank God for her medical background training because she was able to stop the bleeding until STARS was able to get there.".It would take about 200-plus staples and surgical clamps just over his skull, and many more fine stitches over his face, neck, and throat to stop the bleeding. He also has a draining tube out of his neck. . Cason with a get-well cardCason with a get-well card ."He's got quite the gash just under his neck which just missed airway and his jugular by millimetres.".Later that same day, Alberta Fish and Wildlife tracked and euthanized the cougar just 150 metres from where the attack took place. .Despite his severe injuries, Chay says Cason was more worried about whether the other kids were attacked and if they were safe. He also thought it was a dog that had attacked him..Chay says her best friend's bravery will never be forgotten.."She is one brave woman."
