An Alberta Mountie from Strathcona County has been killed in the line of duty..“A member of the Strathcona RCMP detachment, was killed in the line duty this morning. He was involved in a motor vehicle accident, while responding to assist members with a noise complaint,” said Deputy Commissioner Curtis Zablocki of the Alberta RCMP..His vehicle struck a large concrete barrier while responding and despite efforts by EMS, he passed away..Constable Harvinder Singh Dhami, 32, was known as “Harvey” to his co-workers..Zablocki said Harvey was known as someone “who was mature with a strong sense of responsibility.".“This is never the kind of news we want to share,” Zablocki said..“He was hard working, dependable, and so well liked by everyone around him. This was so evident this morning and speaking with his watch mates and colleagues. Constable Dhami took great pride in wearing a uniform. And we were very proud to have him on our team.”.“We were fortunate to work with Harvey. Harvey was known for being hard working and a go getter that could always be counted on,” said Dale Kendall, commander of the Strathcona County RCMP detachment..“He also never would shy away from calls, and always wanted to learn on the job.”.The exact location of the collision is unclear..A makeshift memorial that included flowers has emerged outside the Strathcona RCMP detachment for anyone wishing to pay respects to the fallen officer..The Strathcona RCMP detachment commander, said Dhami is survived by his wife..“[He] had one of the most positive attitudes. No matter what was thrown his way, he was always ready to do his part,” Kendall said..The investigation into what happened remains in its preliminary stages by the Alberta RCMP.
