A Mountie from Alberta was killed in the line of duty on Monday.."Strathcona County RCMP continue to investigate a motor vehicle accident involving a Strathcona County RCMP member at approximately 2 AM this morning on Township Road 540," Constable Kelsey Davidge from Alberta RCMP media relations said.."Despite efforts of emergency responders and the civilians present, Const. Harvinder Singh Dhami succumbed to his injuries. Dhami was known to be a team member who was compassionate, caring and very community oriented..His vehicle struck a large concrete barrier near Elk Island National Park while responding to a call and despite efforts by EMS, he passed away..Dhami, 32, was known as “Harvey” to his co-workers..“Losing a member of our police service and a member of the community is incredibly difficult,” said Deputy Commissioner Curtis Zablocki, commanding officer of the Alberta RCMP..“We are very appreciative of the support that has been extended to the family, our staff and the community.
